Hyundai and JvM's New Film Tells the Story of the Best Car in the World

Hyundai and their Global Digital Lead agency, Jung von Matt SPREE produced a documentary that reveals the key decisions behind the all-electric IONIQ 5 being named World Car of the Year 2022.
As Hyundai's reputation continues to rise around the globe, the IONIQ 5's victory marks the brand as a major player in the automotive industry. The story, "IONIQ, DEFYING CONVENTION", focuses on the risks that the brand took to develop the award-winning vehicle, tracing Hyundai's challenger spirit back to its founder and first ever model, the Pony. The IONIQ 5 is the first vehicle in the IONIQ range that utilises the company's dedicated electric vehicle platform - the E-GMP.
To ensure this brand-focused story would appeal to a wide audience, Jung von Matt SPREE enlisted renowned automotive journalist and World Car of the Year judge, Erin Baker to narrate the film. Baker brings to life the significance of the IONIQ's awards, shining a light on the tough competition process.
Meanwhile interviews with the engineers who developed the car and President North America and global CCO of Hyundai Motor Company, José Muñoz tell the story from the inside. The film also features interviews with IONIQ ambassador, David de Rothschild as well as a Professor of Urban Design, Dr. Saehoon Kim.
The film and an array of accompanying social assets will be rolled out across Hyundai’s global digital channels, including its media platform, Channel Hyundai. The assets include Instagram Reels featuring Erin Baker, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram posts highlighting various elements of the campaign, as well as a five-minute synopsis of the film on YouTube and targeted ads. The film was produced by director, Anthony Molina and production company, fount in Seoul, L.A, London and Turin.
