Banjoman Signs Emerging Talent Zornitsa Dimitrova
Aug. 31, 2022
Banjoman today announces the signing of Bulgarian director Zornitsa Dimitrova for commercial representation in Ireland.
After moving to Germany to pursue media studies, Zornitsa swiftly learned that her passions actually lay in making the films herself, and so set out to study directing for advertising at the Ludwigsburg Film Academy. There, she crafted her graduation film, A DARK MOMENT OF FAITH, a 17-minute branded short which strips filmmaking down to only its most essential components - a great idea and team - despite time and budget restrictions.
The film has since won her several YDA Gold Screens, including the Special Jury Prize, a 1.4 Award, Berlin Commercial Award, and six Clios, as well as D&AD and Shots EMEA nominations.
In the short-form commercial realm, Zornitsa has already crafted content for notable brands such as eBay, Bosch, and HEAD Tennis. Particularly fond of telling stories about strong women, one of Zornitsa’s highlights so far has been her International Women's Day work for McDonald's Germany. Titled ‘Female Empowerment', the bold film offers a gutsy middle finger to the patriarchy - an element that features in every one of Zornitsa’s films.
Zornitsa Dimitrova commented:
“I’m excited to join the team at Banjoman - I love the compact roster and I’m looking forward to working in Ireland for the first time. In addition to getting to know this new market, I’ll be pursuing unconventional scripts and new set experiences and connections - watch this space!”
Matt D’Arcy, Head of Production at Banjoman, added:
“We are chuffed to be bringing Zornitsa in. We first reached out well over a year ago, having seen her short film. We were huge fans. The commercial work that followed has been beautiful and there is something growing in every film. Having had a few meetings, we felt Zornitsa was a really nice fit for what we are trying to do and are confident she can add an original voice to the Irish advertising market.”
