Ben Edwards Joins Five by Five as Head of Design

Apr. 28, 2021

Independent creative and production agency Five by Five has today appointed Ben Edwards as Head of Design. Previously creative director and founder of multidisciplinary design studio, Big Kill, Ben will now lead the department at Five by Five, taking forward his experience in design, motion creative retouching, and visualisation.

Having studied Graphic Design and Computer Arts at Abertay University, Ben began his career as a freelancer before being poached by Leo Burnett London as a Junior Designer. After two years, and a desire for more conceptual involvement and the ability to work across different creative platforms, Ben moved onto freelancing once more. During this time he gained experience with multiple design and ad agencies - including VCCP, MullenLowe, adam&eveDDB, BETC, and BBH - whilst also pursuing his passion for filmmaking and photography. Moving to Canada, Ben refined his craft in film and motion work before returning to the UK and founding Big Kill. With over 14 years of experience in the industry, Ben has worked on a multitude of campaigns for brands such as Sony, Range Rover, Canon, and Persil. At Five by Five, he’ll be bringing this expertise to a range of clients including Activision, Screwfix, and B&Q.

Ben Edwards comments:

“Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate enough to work with some of the biggest agencies in the industry. I have therefore also seen many that didn’t work well, had politics, and what I saw as fundamental flaws. I’ve had the pleasure of working with [UK creative directors] Ravi and Andy many times across the years, and never have I worked with such a team that, even as they rose up in the industry, had no egos and were only ever a delight. They have always championed the same things I have, and have an energy and passion that is addictive to be around - on top of creating amazing work. They understand the importance of working with good people, and even from my limited contact with the team, I know Five by Five represents this too.”

Ravi Beeharry and Andy Mancuso, Creative Directors at Five by Five UK, add:

“Having worked with Ben at previous agencies, we’ve seen his talent up close. Ben’s eye for design, craft, and attention to detail is impeccable. He’ll not only add value from a design perspective but he’s a great fit culturally. So, we’re absolutely delighted to have him join Five by Five and be part of our growing family.”
