Classic FM defrosts Aled Jones to Launch its First-Ever Christmas Station
Oct. 20, 2026
Classic FM has launched its brand new radio station dedicated to classical Christmas music with a creative twist - defrosting presenter and singer Aled Jones.
In a short film, Aled is seen frozen inside a giant block of ice. Then comes the opening notes of Walking in the Air - the timeless song from The Snowman that made Aled Jones synonymous with Christmas for generations. The music causes him to stir, stand up and burst into song to smash the ice, officially signalling that Christmas has arrived.
Classic FM Christmas is packed with music that makes the season feel magical, offering listeners a festive soundtrack of much-loved carols, orchestral and choral favourites, and iconic film scores from Christmas classics including Home Alone and Love Actually.
Sally Ardis, Managing Director of Global's Music Brands said:
“There’s nothing quite like the first Christmas song of the year to get you into the festive spirit, and we’re delighted to bring listeners a whole station dedicated to those songs they know and love."
Joseph Zubier, Managing Editor of Classic FM, said:
“Christmas and classical music are a perfect match, so launching Classic FM Christmas for the very first time is the most natural next step for our brand. We look forward to welcoming first-time and current listeners to our new station. From traditional carols to iconic festive film scores, we know people everywhere love the music that makes this season special. Classic FM Christmas brings it all together, celebrating the most wonderful music of the year.”
