Joe Philips Rises to Creative Director at Another Country Detroit
Jan. 17, 2024
Another Country Managing Director Tim Konn and his colleagues worldwide are very proud to announce the immediate promotion of Joe Philips to the position of Creative Director for Another Country Detroit.
As Creative Director of Sonic Branding and Composer for Another Country Detroit over the past decade, Philips is known for masterfully pairing music and sound with moving images and essential brand sensibilities for a dazzling array of clients. These include Pokémon, Pepsi, GMC, Buick, the Detroit Lions, and the Association of Independent Commercial Producers (AICP), to name but a few. Fusing his vast expertise in music composition, sound design, sonic branding, composition and music supervision, his astute approach to generating sublime audio content helps Another Country’s global clientele unleash their full sonic potential.
Konn began:
"Joe is equal parts artist and technician, which is perfect to lead our charge in Detroit. Joe’s passion for all things audio is inspiring and his excitement is contagious. He’s also very thoughtful and thorough, always bringing unique insights that elevate whatever he touches."
Starting his career as a musical performer, Philips quickly went on to become composer, songwriter, audio engineer, and record producer. Through his pivotal experiences as music supervisor and composer for NYC-based sonic branding agency Made Music Studio, he discovered his passion for strengthening brands through phenomenal music and sound. Teaching Sound Design at Detroit’s College for Creative Studies since 2020 has kept his knowledge sharp, while bolstering the next generation of music-industry talents.
Philips explained:
"One of Another Country’s greatest strengths is that we’re able to handle just about any audio-related project – big or small. Between our two locations we have a deep bench of hard working, brilliant audio minds and a strong professional network that spans the globe. There’s a tangible comradery in the air here, and it’s an exciting environment to work in."
Philips continued:
"A huge benefit of being part of Cutters Studios is our ability to offer clients a streamlined, holistic approach to any project we take on. We benefit so much from being in the same building with editors, animators, graphic designers, etc. It allows us to openly communicate during every step of the process and collaborate extensively, work together to solve problems, and ultimately create the best output for our clients."
According to Konn, Another Country’s bespoke music and sonic branding capabilities owe everything to Philips' talents as composer and sound designer.
Addressing his expanding role, Philips added:
"I'm very proud of all the work we’ve done over the past decade, and I’m excited to be part of the passionate team of creators leading Another Country into the future."
