Leap Year Opens New Brooklyn Studio, With Some of the Best Views in NYC
Sep. 24, 2026
Post Production Studio Leap Year opens the doors to a new studio space in Brooklyn, establishing a new home on the border of Gowanus and Carroll Gardens with a sweeping view of the New York skyline.
Built around Leap Year’s belief that making time is the key to making great work, the new space was designed to give editors, collaborators, and clients a comfortable place to work together in person while maintaining the flexibility of real-time remote sessions. The light-filled fifth floor studio features a dedicated edit suite overlooking the city, a spacious main office, conference room and private space for client calls.
Kira MacKnight, MD/EP of Leap Year shared:
“Candidly, the move was sparked by our previous building being sold, a classic New York story. While unexpected, it gave us the opportunity to find a home that feels true to Leap Year and is a step up all around. We’re thrilled to be in Gowanus, a neighborhood that feels quintessentially Brooklyn and very much like us. There are so many revitalization efforts happening here right now (the historic retractile Carroll Street Bridge even reopened after 5 years on our literal move-in day, which felt like a sign) and the energy is palpable. We can’t wait to share this new, inspiring space with our team, our editors, and clients alike.”
The move marks a new chapter for Leap Year, which specializes in offline editorial and works closely with brands, agencies and production companies across commercial, branded and entertainment projects. Its tightly curated roster includes editors Kauai, Jeff Watterson, Austen Deery, Nico Frank and Jake Oleson, supported by an extensive network of colorists, VFX artists, animators, sound designers and mixers.
Leap Year’s recent work spans collaborations with Adidas, Anthropic, Spotify, Expedia, Disney and Nike, with projects recognized by SXSW, AICP, Ciclope, shots, AFI and more.
Beyond offering a new home for the company, the Brooklyn studio places Leap Year within a neighborhood shaped by independent businesses, artists and makers. The building itself is home to Brooklyn Granary, New York City’s only commercial stone flour mill and bakery, alongside community and craft-focused neighbors including Cobble Hill Ballet and Hazel Village.
For Leap Year, becoming part of that community is as important as the space itself. The company plans to put down roots beyond the walls of the studio through local volunteering and neighborhood initiatives, including opportunities to support organizations such as the nearby Gowanus Canal Conservancy.
