New Math Welcomes New West Coast Executive Producer and Representation
Apr. 22, 2024
Bi-coastal music composition and post-production studio New Math expands on the West Coast with the addition of EP and Business Development Executive Scott Cymbala, who arrives in tandem with a new West Coast rep, Lauren Schuchman of Diplomat.
A leader and innovator in audio production, Cymbala’s career kicked off when Tom Hajdu and Andy Milburn of tomandandy tapped him to start a record label and music licensing company. He later worked as the GM for Elias Arts and as a Founding Partner of MassiveMusic North America. His egalitarian leadership has led companies to win many awards, including Cannes Lions, One Show, AICP, LIA, and Clio awards. He has collaborated with top global brands like Adidas, Verizon, Toyota, Coca-Cola, Apple, McDonalds, Google, and many professional sports organizations.
Cymbala says of his role at New Math:
“I met Kala [Sherman] and Dave [Wittman] working together at Elias Arts, so in a grand sense, this is a reunion with treasured former colleagues. They are doing highly creative work at an equally high level. I aim to help grow New Math and expand their current creative service offerings to include more music supervision and licensing for all facets of media and usher in more opportunities in sonic branding in gaming, television, and film.”
Lauren Schuchman founded Diplomat in 2016. Defined by Schuchman’s ability to find innovative, creative solutions and informed by her experience in production and sales, Diplomat’s esteemed roster includes Sweetshop, Interrogate, Chromista, Minted, Emerald Pictures, Society, Nomad Edit, Fin, and now New Math.
Schuchman says:
“I’m elated to partner with New Math. They collectively come from a tremendous pedigree, are true experts at all things audio, and I think are primed to be a new leader in the market. I anticipate great things to come from this venture.”
New Math’s auspicious start to 2024 saw its roster of composers and sound designers collaborating with brands including Pinterest, Eli Lilly, Verizon, United Airlines, TaxAct, and Heinz to create sweeping scores, futuristic soundtracks, and forward-moving beats for a variety of original soundscapes. New Math’s West Coast expansion also includes Partner Ray Loewy working out of the Los Angeles office for half the year.
New Math Managing Partner and Executive Producer Kala Sherman adds:
“We are so excited to work with Scott again; he’s a beloved collaborator and friend and is the perfect fit to help grow our West Coast studio. Lauren from Diplomat has been amazing to work with thus far. The future of New Math is bright, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the year has in store.”
