Oscar Winning Victoria Warmerdam Joins 100% as Director
Sep. 23, 2025
100% is excited to announce that acclaimed filmmaker and Academy Award winner Victoria Warmerdam has joined the roster as a commercial director. Known for her imaginative and authentic storytelling, Victoria brings a fresh creative force to 100% at a moment when global recognition for Dutch cinema is stronger than ever.
Victoria made history earlier this year when her short film I’m Not a Robot won the Oscar® for Best Live Action Short Film at the 2025 Academy Awards - the first Dutch short film to win in more than half a century. The film, which cleverly transforms the everyday experience of an online CAPTCHA into an exploration of identity and autonomy, was praised worldwide for its originality, humor, and emotional resonance. The Oscar® win followed a string of festival successes and established Victoria as one of the Netherlands’ most distinctive creative voices.
Gijs Determeijer, partner at 100% said:
“Victoria is one of the most exciting voices out there. Her sense of humor, her storytelling skills, and the way she works with actors to bring out the very best performances is something that really excites me. We’re thrilled to bring that into the commercial world, and create campaigns together”
Trained at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht (HKU), Victoria first gained attention with her award-winning shorts Short Calf Muscle (2019) and Snorrie (2020), both of which showcased her talent for blending deadpan humor with quietly absurd, existential themes. Influenced by Danish filmmaker Anders Thomas Jensen, she crafts stories that are at once unsettling and funny, subtly surreal yet deeply human.
The signing marks a new chapter both for Victoria and for 100%. Her arrival is another step for 100% towards projects that take risks, play with genre, and place human connection at the heart of storytelling.
Victoria said:
“I’m so excited to join 100% 's international roster. Their bold and ambitious vision, and the inspiring work they’re known for worldwide, make this a dream collaboration. I look forward to building new connections, both globally and closer to home, and contributing to the creative energy that comes from pushing boundaries across storytelling”.
Fresh off her Oscar® win and with international attention firmly on her work, Victoria’s move to 100% marks the beginning of something truly exciting!
