The Garage is thrilled to welcome Director Sam McGlynn to its diverse roster of talent. Sam’s creative approach blends cinematic style with emotional clarity, humor, and visual innovation across commercials, feature films and high-profile video games. Having collaborated with some of the world’s leading global franchises including Meta, Warner Brothers, Call of Duty, and The Mandalorian, he brings a rare mix of film sensibility, technical fluency, and branded storytelling expertise to every project.

With roots in both film and branded storytelling, Sam has held roles at Electronic Arts, Method Studios and Company 3, overseeing cinematic campaigns, virtual production and VFX-driven content. Well-versed in tools like Unreal Engine and virtual production workflows, he combines high-end storytelling, real-time production, and cinematic worldbuilding in his work. His feature debut “Deaner '89” premiered in 115 Cineplex theatres across Canada, earned seven Canadian Screen Award nominations including the John Dunning Best First Feature Film Award and is now streaming via Mongrel Media.

Managing Director Robert Mulligan shared:

"With Sam, story always comes first. Whether he’s working in short form, long form, or immersive gaming content, he blends live action with CG and VFX to create visually striking and emotionally engaging work. As both a director and artist, Sam connects with talent just as well as he crafts visuals. His comedic timing is sharp, and his imagery practically jumps off the screen."

Senior Executive Producer Blake Rice added:

"Having worked with Sam at Method Studios, we had the chance to see him not only create stunning narratives and visuals but also lead global creative teams with humility and empathy. His artistic voice is bold, while his leadership remains grounded – a rare and powerful combination."

Sam McGlynn said:

"I’m thrilled to be joining The Garage’s roster of directors. Their focus on craft, storytelling, and collaboration makes it the perfect home for the kind of cinematic, character-driven work I love to create. I’m excited to bring my background in film and high-end production into this community of innovative voices.”
