UNESCO and DDB Paris launch an international campaign for IDEI.

Recent events have once again shown that many journalists risk their lives to simply tell the world the truth.
In the last twelve years, more than 1,000 journalists have been killed for trying to cover certain events and inform the public.
In 2013, the United Nations General Assembly officially declared 2 November the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists (IDEI). The date was chosen to commemorate two French journalists killed in Mali on 2 November 2013.
UNESCO contacted DDB Paris to launch an international campaign for IDEI.
The idea was based on a simple premise—journalists are killed so that their investigative work dies with them, so let’s send a message to the perpetrators:
There’s no point in killing journalists, because you know what? The truth never dies. #TruthNeverDies




The campaign, developed by DDB Paris, urges the media and Internet users around the world to share the stories and work of journalists who were targeted in an attempt to silence them—they themselves can ultimately be the purveyors of truth that was to be kept hidden, through the hashtag #TruthNeverDies.
The international call was launched through a media campaign with hard-hitting headlines and communicated via UNESCO’s social media accounts, as well as a dedicated website.
