Visit Seattle & Copacino Fujikado Set World Record with PRIDE Event
Jun. 07, 2024
To mark the 50th anniversary of Seattle’s first PRIDE celebration and shine a light on the city’s innate inclusivity, Visit Seattle teamed up with its long-time agency partner Copacino Fujikado to bring a first-of-its-kind initiative to life, a SEA-Worthy Celebration of Love.
At the center of the initiative was an unprecedented event to celebrate queer love where LGBTQIA+ couples from across the country were invited to take part in a vow renewal ceremony on the picturesque Puget Sound last Thursday (May 30). What resulted was the largest vow renewal of LGBTQIA+ couples ever - officially setting the World Record. A total of 56 LGBTQIA+ couples renewed their vows at once. And the mayor of Seattle declared the day “Love For All Day '' in its honor.
Emceed by RuPaul’s Drag Race star BenDeLaCreme, with vow renewals led by Washington State Supreme Court Justice Mary Yu (Washington’s first openly gay Asian American and Latina justice), the event took over three levels of a local boat decorated to bring the feeling of PRIDE to life. Couples enjoyed everything from local food and drinks to a live love poem writer.

As part of the initiative and to promote the event, Copacino Fujikado also spearheaded a digital campaign in conjunction with partner agencies Sparkloft and PB&, including display, social and influencer elements featuring BenDeLaCreme. Photos and video from the event will also be used in advertising to encourage LGBTQIA+ travelers to put Seattle on their must-visit list, not only during PRIDE, but all year long.
