Austin PBS Launches New Original Docuseries David Eats Everywhere
Jun. 09, 2026
Austin PBS announces the launch of David Eats Everywhere, a new digital original docuseries spotlighting the people, stories, and culinary traditions shaping Austin’s dynamic food culture. Hosted by popular Austin food blogger David Douglass, the six-part series premieres June 10 on the Austin PBS YouTube Channel, with new episodes debuting weekly.
Expanding on the storytelling style that has earned him a devoted following across Instagram and TikTok, Douglass travels across Austin—from strip malls and neighborhood bakeries to bustling food trucks and acclaimed dining destinations—to uncover the flavors and stories that define the city’s culinary identity. Through humor, curiosity, and foodie insight, Douglass connects viewers with the people behind the food and the communities that make Austin unique.
Throughout the series, Douglass steps inside immigrant-owned kitchens and beloved local establishments to explore the traditions, creativity, and hard work behind some of Austin’s most memorable dishes. From Colombia to Japan, he highlights the entrepreneurs and families bringing their culture and craft to Austin, helping shape the rich diversity of the city’s food scene. Blending food, culture, and storytelling, each eight- to twelve-minute installment offers an intimate behind-the-scenes look at the chefs, families, and restaurants helping define Austin’s vibrant and evolving culinary identity.
A recipient of the inaugural Austin PBS Digital Originals Grant in 2025, Douglass developed the series in collaboration with Austin PBS as part of the public television station’s ongoing commitment to supporting local creators and community storytelling.
Douglass said:
“For the last two and a half years I have been telling stories in 45 seconds through my phone. Austin PBS is giving me an incredible opportunity to collaborate with a talented crew and director to dive deeper into the stories that make Austin a place I love to live.”
Director and editor Ariel Quintans says the series was conceived as a celebration of the peoples and culture that have helped shape Austin’s culinary landscape.
Director and editor Ariel Quintans said:
“Directing David Eats Everywhere was like writing a love letter to Austin's diverse culinary scene. In a city filled with Michelin stars and Bib Gourmands, I wanted to shine a light on the first and second-generation immigrant restaurateurs whose stories are woven into Austin's cultural fabric. The challenge wasn't simply making a food show—it was finding the intersection of food, film, and community that honors the people that have quietly shaped what Austin tastes like.”
