Bring a Trailer Launches "It's Never Just a Car" Campaign, Celebrating the Wonderfully Obsessive World of Car Enthusiasts

Jul. 20, 2026

Bring a Trailer, a unit of Hearst Magazines and the leading digital auction platform for collector and enthusiast vehicles, today announced the launch of the next chapter of "It's Never Just a Car" platform. Developed in partnership with PMG, Bring a Trailer's agency of record for creative and media, the campaign extends the brand's celebration of the passionate, wonderfully obsessive community that has made Bring a Trailer unlike any other automotive marketplace.

Launching in July 2026, the campaign is built on the powerful human truth of car enthusiasm going beyond just being a hobby, but a beautifully obsessive, tight-knit culture. "It's Never Just a Car" celebrates the passion, rituals, and personalities of the Bring a Trailer community. The result is a connection with car lovers in a way that truly resonates and cuts through the traditional noise of automotive marketplaces.

At the creative core are three cinematic video spots that play out like mini-movies, each featuring a well-meaning car aficionado whose attention has been completely hijacked by a Bring a Trailer auction. Whether they're reading hundreds of comments, debating obscure factory options, or refreshing the bidding page one more time (for the fifteenth time), every spot captures the all-too-relatable moment when real life takes a back seat to the perfect car. Directed by ArtClass’s Oren Kaplan, the work is smart, stylish, and self-aware, while affectionately celebrating the kind of people who know exactly why that paint code matters or can spot the wrong shift knob from across the room. Campaign copy leans into that spirit with lines including "Insanely thorough and thoroughly insane," and "Welcome to the world's easiest treasure hunt. Lose yourself. Find the one."

Kaplan said:

“It’s not often that a brand has the guts to highlight just how eccentric its own customers are, but with Bring a Trailer, that’s exactly what we’re doing. Last year’s campaign was all about how fanatical Bring a Trailer users are, but this year we’re showing just how obsessed users can get: a judge buying a car during a trial, a therapist admiring a new vehicle during a session, and a best man who can’t give a toast because there’s a new Camaro for sale on the site. That’s why this is one of my favorite campaigns—it celebrates the obsessive weirdos that exist in all of us.”

Justin Prichard, Creative Director at PMG said:

"Bring a Trailer has built one of the most passionate communities in the automotive world, so our job was to celebrate it through rich, character-driven storytelling. Brand affinity comes from recognition, not repetition, so we worked closely with the Bring a Trailer team to create stories that car fans can recognize themselves in. They’re built to stop the scroll, reward people’s time, and ultimately feel worth watching."

Beyond the creative, Bring a Trailer 2.0 is anchored by a sophisticated media strategy engineered to drive widespread brand awareness, elevate marketplace favorability, and build long-term brand equity. Powered by PMG’s proprietary operating system, Alli, the campaign combines first-party audience intelligence with premium storytelling and contextual placements across premium CTV, social, and programmatic channels. By leading with high-impact, narrative-driven media, the strategy deepens trust and consideration among the automotive community. This elevated brand lift naturally fuels the marketplace flywheel, ultimately attracting exceptional seller inventory and cultivating a highly engaged, loyal community of bidders.

Lindsay Horrigan, SVP, Consumer Growth Officer for Hearst Magazines said:

"Bring a Trailer is built around the enthusiasm and support of its community, which helps it feel like more of a home than an auction site for the auto-obsessed among us. The 'It's Never Just a Car' campaign shines a light on Bring a Trailer’s magnetism, and the deep engagement this unique marketplace has created in the automotive universe."
