Copa90 hires Paolo Nieddu as head of strategy

Copa90, the global football network, has boosted its senior team with the appointment of Paolo Nieddu to the new role of head of strategy.

The move will reunite Nieddu with James Kirkham, the head of Copa90, after the pair had previously worked together at Holler, the digital agency that was subsequently acquired by Leo Burnett Worldwide.

Nieddu joins Copa90 from AnalogFolk where he was managing partner with responsibility for the agency’s content-focused products and services.

At Copa90, Nieddu will work closely with Kirkham and his management team as the fan-based network looks to innovate across mobile and social platforms, and build creative partnerships with advertisers. Having founded Holler, Kirkham joined Copa90 in February from Leo Burnett Worldwide, where he was the head of mobile and social.

Nieddu has extensive experience as a planner and content specialist. He joined Holler in 2009 as a senior planner, rising to head of planning and then managing partner, before joining AnalogFolk in June 2015.

His arrival at Copa90 follows recent activity at the football network that has included a series of Coca-Cola branded films to support its sponsorship of Euro 2016 and a partnership with Ibiza Rocks to film exclusive content at its venues.

Kirkham said: “Paolo is an amazing planner and a great content innovator. It’s fantastic he’s joining Copa90 as we look to transform the ways that football fans consume, and interact with, content.”

Nieddu: “My time with AnalogFolk has been fantastic, I’ve enjoyed working with some truly talented people. However, this is my dream job and the prospect of teaming up with James again and work with football, fans and brands was something I just couldn’t turn down”.

Ete Davies, Managing Director at AnalogFolk commented “Paolo is an exceptional talent, who has done a sterling job in driving our content team forward, he'll be missed. We wish him all the best in his new role at Copa90.”
