Cut+Run Welcomes Heidi Black as Editorial Partner

Aug. 03, 2026

Cut+Run is excited to announce that Heidi Black has joined the award-winning editorial house as an Editorial Partner, expanding the company's leadership team alongside Founder Steve Gandolfi, Managing Partners Amburr Farls and Lauren Hertzberg, and Editor Partners Frank Effron, Jon Grover, Jay Nelson, and Gary Knight.

Black comes to Cut+Run from a 28-year career at Whitehouse Post, where she started as a runner and worked her way up under the mentorship of Rick Lawley and Sue Dawson, eventually becoming Partner. She brings her many years of leadership and editorial expertise to Cut+Run, along with her ambition to create great work and mentor the next generation of editors.

She edited Google’s “It Gets Better” campaign by BBH New York. Built from real voices and real stories, the film carried an emotional weight that earned a Gold Clio, Best Campaign at the AICP Awards, and Outstanding TV Campaign at the GLAAD Awards. Black is equally celebrated for her comedic work, with Hyundai Super Bowl spots “First Date” and “Ryantown” among her standout credits, and she’s recently completed a new project with acclaimed director Andrew DeYoung.

Throughout her career, Black has collaborated with numerous agencies and brands, including Adidas, Geico, Mercedes, United Airlines, AT&T, Google, Amazon, Toyota, Buick, Walmart and Intel.

Black says on joining Cut+Run:

“I love the people there. The roster is stacked, and I’m incredibly impressed with how they have managed to be a legacy brand that is consistently evolving. They’re committed to finding and nurturing talent and raising their game year after year. They’re inspiring, and I’m proud to be joining the Cut+Run family.”

Cut+Run founder Steve Gandolfi added:

“Heidi’s breadth of experience is something you immediately feel. She leads with empathy, inspires by example, and brings a deep understanding of every stage of the creative process. We’ve admired Heidi’s work for so many years, so welcoming an editor of her caliber—and a person of such integrity—as an Editorial Partner is incredibly exciting. Her versatility is exceptional, her editorial instincts are razor-sharp, and her commitment to mentoring the next generation of talent perfectly reflects the culture and future we’re building at Cut+Run.”
