Director Paul B. Cummings Joins Good Times For US Commercial Representation

Creative production company Good Times †has welcomed Los Angeles-based Paul B. Cummings to its directorial roster. With a narrative style that is not only visual, but also comedically focused, he has directed campaigns for Lexus, McDonald’s, Subway, Dunkin’ Donuts, Burger King, State Farm, and Allegiant Airlines. Industry recognition for his work includes honors from Cannes Lions, Clio, One Show, Promax, and the Webbys.

An in-demand director of celebrity-focused promos and featurettes for Marvel, 20th Century Fox, Sony, Warner Bros., and Disney, Cummings has collaborated with Paul Rudd, Jon Hamm, Christopher Lloyd, Zac Efron, Jordan Peele, Adam Devine, and a host of other A-list talent.

Eric McCasline, Good Times Partner and Executive Producer said:

“Paul is exactly the kind of filmmaker we love working with․ There’s a real compassion in everything he makes—which comes from trusting his instincts, respecting the audience, and never losing sight of the people at the heart of the story. We can’t wait to see what we create together.”

Cummings added:

“To me, a great production is a lot like a great conversation: fluid, natural, and built on mutual respect and the sharing of ideas. I’m just all about that kind of energy as a director, and that’s the vibe I got from Good Times. They bring humanity to the process, and it just felt like we spoke the same language right out of the gate. I’m excited to help Good Times expand its comedy slate, as it’s the perfect match for where I thrive most: visual-based comedy and short-form storytelling.”

Extending his creative reach to episodic television, Cummings directed several episodes of Moon & Me for the BBC and served as Co-Showrunner/Executive Producer on the animated series Summer Memories, which premiered on Family Channel in Canada and is currently available in the U.S. on The Roku Channel. The series was nominated for several Canadian Screen Awards. Cummings has also directed several segments for the late-night talk show Conan on TBS.

Cummings launched his career in 2006 with one of YouTube’s earliest viral sensations, Tony vs. Paul. The frenetic stop-motion animation caught the attention of famed studio Klasky Csupo (Rugrats, The Wild Thornberrys), which signed him to its commercial division, Ka-Chew!

There, he directed campaigns for McDonald’s, Red Vines, and Go-Gurt. He next joined DUCK Studios and Tuff, the latter of which saw him collaborating with repeat agency clients, including Edelman, Team One, and R&R. During this time, Cummings also freelanced with Cartoon Network for Adult Swim, where he created massive viral hits for Rick and Morty. His other celebrity-studded movie and TV promo work includes such titles as Deadpool 2, Ant-Man & The Wasp, Bob’s Burgers, and Top Chef. Additional credentials include serving as writer, director, and executive producer for Comedy Central and Viceland.

On the short-film front, Cummings has written and directed several titles, including Margot’s Last Meal, a touching story about the final moments shared between a woman and her dog.

Intrinsically involved from pre-production through post, Cummings elevates every project with a blend of meticulous planning, collaborative spirit, and relentless attention to detail. His bulletproof preparation is the cornerstone of his comedy work, granting him the freedom to play on set and let the dialogue and comedic beats evolve organically.

Drawing from his early career in animation, Cummings finds that comedy gold goes way beyond the dialogue and performance, with experimentation in cinematography and editing integral to his visually based humor.

Across his comedic devices, Cummings adheres to the philosophy that effective comedy is grounded in realism, allowing the humor to "sneak up" on the audience, as evidenced in his work for Allegiant Airlines, Lexus, and Metabo.

“What excites me about today’s advertising is how much more cinematic comedy has become,” concludes Cummings. “Today’s audiences have a great radar for authenticity. That’s what resonates—work that feels honest, collaborative, and just a little unexpected—and that’s exactly the kind of storytelling I want to keep making.”
