Even/Odd Welcomes Kahlil Joseph as Artist-at-Large and Director

Mar. 05, 2026

Award-winning creative studio and production company Even/Odd is excited to welcome filmmaker and artist Kahlil Joseph to its US roster as Director and Artist-at-Large within its Creative Studio.

As Artist-at-Large, he will bring invaluable expertise and vision to Even/Odd's Creative Studio — a collaborative model where artists and directors work closely with brands, athletes and public figures to create standout work across branded storytelling, campaigns, and entertainment.

Joseph is widely revered as one of the most original voices of his generation — a Los Angeles–based filmmaker and visual artist whose work channels deep emotional resonance while dissolving the lines between cinema and fine art. He first came to prominence through music videos for Kendrick Lamar, Flying Lotus, Beyoncé, and FKA twigs, establishing a singular style that is lyrical, rhythmic, and visually experimental. Joseph is the creator of BLKNWS®, a genre-defying media project that has evolved into the critically acclaimed feature-length film, “BLKNWS: Terms & Conditions”, which premiered at Sundance, won the FIPRESCI Award at Vienna, and is currently playing in theaters nationwide. He has exhibited work at the Venice Biennale, the Tate Modern, and the Underground Museum, which he co-founded in Los Angeles.

Joseph’s longtime collaborator, Cayce Cole (former Managing Executive Producer at Even/Odd), played a key role in shaping the partnership between the filmmaker and the studio. A renowned producer and creative strategist, Cole brings decades of experience championing some of the most distinctive voices in contemporary storytelling, including award-winning artists such as Mike Mills, Taika Waititi, Sofia and Gia Coppola, Spike Jonze, Romain Gavras, and Melodie McDaniel. Cole, alongside esteemed co-founder Lisa Houck of The Diversified, will help lead the development of new brand and commercial opportunities for Joseph and Even/Odd.

Cole said:

“Working alongside Kahlil and Even/Odd over the years has been a study in creative rigor and cultural intuition. They bring a rare ability to craft work that’s both technically sharp and emotionally resonant — stories that reflect the world as it is, while pointing to what could be. This next chapter gives us the chance to merge our strengths and build on that foundation.”

Even/Odd Co-Founder and Director, Mohammad Gorjestani, believes this new partnership will help carry the studio into the next decade:

“Kahlil Joseph has been a defining influence for a whole generation of artists and filmmakers — myself included. I’ve always been drawn to Kahlil’s work and how he expands your sense of what’s possible. Now, as Even/Odd enters a new phase of evolution, this collaboration brings creative momentum that will pull in new ideas, new projects, and new voices. I’m excited for what this opens up — for both Kahlil and Even/Odd — and for the work that I know will continue to push boundaries.”
