Gerety Awards Announces A Deadline Extension And That It Will Not Be Accepting Covid-19 Related Ads
Apr. 20, 2020
Gerety Awards has a new deadline extension, confirms its judging will be remote this year and announces it will not be accepting Covid-19 related ads!.
The Gerety judging is done in two stages. Firstly, the Executive Jury sessions create the shortlist and then the Grand Jury make the final selection defining the overall winners.
In light of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic Gerety Awards decided that for this year all judging will be done remotely and online. The jury sessions in June had been planned for London, New York, Bangkok, Johannesburg, Melbourne, Madrid, Berlin, Buenos Aires, Helsinki and Istanbul.
Gerety Founders said:
"An online petition called for award shows to place a ban on COVID-related entries, we agree with the sentiment that this is not a "cultural moment.” It’s a humanitarian catastrophe. Therefore, we will not be accepting any Covid-19 related ads this year. This does not take away from the fact that agencies are creating fantastic work in response to the Covid-19 virus, but we feel that all focus should be on winning the fight against the virus and not on award recognition for it.”
With the help of AwardsEngine, Gerety counts on a world class voting system that allows the judging to be done online and remotely. Most importantly, this will not change the uniqueness and value of the Gerety Awards which is defining the female vision of advertising with a jury of leading creatives from around the world.
The new deadline is set for May 29.
