Sep. 28, 2022
Last week Berlin's leading creatives joined the Gerety Awards with SAINT BERLIN to celebrate the 2022 Gerety winners over a champagne cocktail and Gerety Talk Live panel. Watch on-demand here.
Moderated by Gerety Awards, Co-Founder, Lucía Ongay the panel included:
Kathrin Jesse, Chief Strategy Officer | Co-Owner – Wirz BBDO
Isabel Gabor – Creative Director – Grabarz & Partner
Rowan El-Goweiny Copywriter – INNOCEAN Worldwide
Felix Strueve - Executive Producer & Co-Founder of SAINT BERLIN
Kathrin Jesse when discussing if there was something specific about German creativity explained:
"My feeling is German creativity is very strategic. I’m a strategic person and when I look at it, I see where it’s coming from and what it is trying to do, and it makes sense to me".
Felix Strueve, Executive Producer & Co-Founder of SAINT BERLIN added:
"The strategic point of view is a good thing, German creativity has developed really well, and the work ethic has worked well and this is essential. Creative work is the result of teamwork and creative leadership".
About the changes happening in the advertising industry Isabel Gabor,Creative Director at Grabarz & Partner explained:
"I think clients do want more social cases, they want to show more how they are in social and want to see this in advertising and to do this authentically they need an advertising agency that has the same beliefs that the client. This is changing rapidly, and I love it and I hope it will go on".
Rowan El-Goweiny, Copywriter INNOCEAN Worldwide added:
"Not everybody is understanding that diversity makes the work better. Clients and brands want to talk numbers and effects but we have to tell them being all the same and having our brains wired the same way, we are not bringing anything new to the table. When you have diverse people coming in, from different backgrounds and upbringings, you create a melting pot that brings new creative work that works and that affects people. Germany is always trying to work on a global level and this is how you talk to the world."
Gerety Awards, Co-Founder Lucía Ongay, said:
"It was fantastic to celebrate this year’s winners together with the Berlin creative community. The Gerety Awards is the only creative prize to prove which campaigns resonate most with a female audience and it was great to see so much enthusiasm for the female vision of advertising".

The Gerety Champagne cocktails are touring this year bringing together the Gerety community around the world for networking drinks and a Gerety Talk panel. Next stops are London, Paris, Madrid, Tokyo and New York.
