Gerety Awards Presents: Gerety Talks, Live in Berlin Champagne Cocktail

Oct. 24, 2023

The Gerety Awards hold judging sessions around the world each year and brings together some of the greatest leaders to look at work from a powerful perspective. Winners are included in rankings such as the World Creative Ranking and the Horizont Creative ranking, and as can be seen by this year’s winners the judging criteria is Originality of the creative ideas and the quality of their executions.

Last week Berlin leading creatives joined the Gerety Awards with MediaMonks to celebrate the 2023 Gerety winners over a champagne cocktail and a live panel.

Moderated by Gerety Awards Co-Founder, Lucía Ongay, the panel included:

  • Myriam Fynecontry-Herke, Executive Creative Director Wunderman Thompson Germany
  • Till Eckel, Co-Founder & CEO @twentyrising
  • Alexis Champa, Executive Creative Director Media.Monks Berlin
  • Isabella Maria Jørgensen, Team Lead Digital Content, Hugo Boss

The discussion started around German and global creativity and on the most awarded campaign at Gerety 2023 which is from Germany: The Glitch for Alzheimer Forschung Initiative from BBDO Germany. The panelists agreed on it being very touching and empathetic as well as capturing  in a very authentic way what patients and their loved ones too experiment with the disease, as well as being a beautifully crafted spot and a great example of powerful and global creativity.

Problem solving, authenticity and advertising that changes things for good beyond a campaign were some aspects of the Gerety Grand Prix winners that were highlighted by the participants, as well as the lighthearted but very clever humour shown in the Skittles campaign "Apologize the Rainbow". The campaign was cited as an example of a brand that has the guts to talk to its customers in a way that is relevant with brutal honesty and, as a great example of what working in advertising is all about, which is solving real briefs for real brands.

The speed of current times was also brought up as a challenge where storytelling becomes very important and powerful to grab the audience’s attention and reconnect with them as well as the co-creation of campaigns that include communities within the creative process with a one-on-one conversation. Livestream was also mentioned as the next big thing that comes with the challenge of entertaining audiences with extremely long formats.

And to the last and closing question on the kind of campaigns or topics the panellists would like to see rewarded at creative festivals in the coming years, there was a simple and unanimous answer: real work.

Gerety Awards, co-founder Lucía Ongay, said:

“It is always great to come back to Berlin to celebrate our winners, a great city with a very creative vibe. We had some wonderful German winners this year and it is wonderful to meet in person with the teams behind the work”.

After Paris, Berlin is the second stop of the Gerety Champagne cocktails that will tour the world bringing together the Gerety community for networking drinks and Live Gerety Talk in other cities around the globe.
