Gravy films welcomes director kat coiro to its roster of incredible directorial talent. The renowned television comedy director signs on for commercial representation at the boutique production company, where her impressive work as an advertising filmmaker will find its new artistic home.

Director of the romantic comedy box office smash “Marry Me,” starring Jennifer Lopez and Maluma, Coiro also has a prolific television career, directing many pilots and episodes and serving as executive producer on several series. She directed and executive produced the pilot episode of CBS’s upcoming “Matlock” reboot starring Kathy Bates. She also served as co-ep and pilot director of “Girls5Eva” from executive producers Robert Carlock and Tina Fey. Additional episodic TV comedy credits include “Dead to Me,” “Modern Family,” “Shameless,” “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” “The Mick,” Disney+ series “The Spiderwick Chronicles,” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” among many others.

Coiro’s directing career began with writing and producing shorts, such as FunnyOrDie’s viral “Idiots,” starring Kate Bosworth and Zoe Saldana. Her ability to root even the most outlandish comedy in realism and grounded performances has translated well into her commercial career, where Coiro often brings heart and humanity to brands like Virgin Atlantic, Coldwell Banker, Skechers, and Gold Peak. Outside of directing, Coiro is a noted activist and advocate for championing a more sustainable and equitable world: she works with the disabled community in Hollywood and has partnered with studios and guilds through her initiative LIGTHSCAMERAPLASTIC to reduce unnecessary waste on sets across the industry.

Coiro on signing said:

“I’ve been looking for a reason to move from narrative to commercials and Gravy is that reason!. Their fabulous reputation precedes them but they also seem to be making the coolest, most ingenious and creative spots in the marketplace. I cannot wait to collaborate with the Gravy family and bring some awesome commercials to life.”

Brent Stoller, executive producer and owner of Gravy, shared:

"Kat is an incredible talent who elevates everything she touches. Whether it’s a commercial, studio feature, or a TV show, she creates an environment where everyone, both on and off-screen, can do their best work. Her comedic timing is impeccable, and her unique spin on storytelling always shines through. Having worked with some of the biggest names in the business, we've been big fans of Kat's for a long time, and we're thrilled to have her join the Gravy family."
