KODE Welcomes Sophia Melvin as Head of Marketing and PR

Jan. 10, 2024

London based production studio KODE are thrilled to welcome Sophia Melvin to their team as Head of Marketing and PR. Sophia will lead all PR and marketing endeavours and opportunities, whilst creating new ways to develop and support the growth of KODE into the new year.

Sophia established her career as the PR and Sales Rep at Cut+Run London, representing a roster of seasoned editors, as well as an exciting pool of up-and-coming talent. Whilst at Cut+Run, Sophia co-created and hosted Ruthless Cuts, a BTS podcast for Promo News that focused on the craft behind the UK's most innovative music videos, interviewing the likes of Ian Pons Jewell, Joe Connor and Matt Lambert.

Sophia then took on the role of Rankin's Film and Photography Rep, where she represented the great man himself together with a roster of young photographers and filmmakers. During her time at Rankin, Sophia also spearheaded the internationally recognised project #GetSnogging for International Kissing Day, that caught the attention of Vogue and GQ.

Sophia has worked as a Head of Sales at some of the industry’s leading production companies, including SKUNK, FRIEND and Somesuch on a freelance basis, and is delighted to find her new permanent home at KODE.

Sophia Melvin, Head of Marketing and Public Relations at KODE said:

"Myself and the team at KODE have grown up together over the past 10 years, so working with them feels like it was always meant to be. Their drive is unbelievably infectious, and the love for their craft is evident in every corner of the business. Alex and Jack are two of the industry’s greatest innovators, so I’ve always felt blessed to call them my friends, and now even more so to call them my colleagues."

She added:

"I’m joining KODE at a really pivotal time. Following their 10 year anniversary celebrations in 2022, there’s a real bubbling excitement for what the future has in store for this exceptional group of people. I hope to nurture and navigate their trajectory, by unveiling the individuals behind the great work, and drive their carefully curated roster into another decade of success. I’m feeling honoured and excited to be at the helm of strategising the next 10 years and beyond..."

Alex Harman, CEO at KODE, added:

"When we felt it was time to bring in a full-time head of Marketing and PR at KODE, Sophia was front of our minds. Sophia lives and breathes the ethos of KODE. Long before we made this happen, we have spoken about working together in various ways which didn’t quite work out each time. We have remained friends and I have enjoyed seeing her go on the journey she has through to now, and think she brings an excellent perspective and mountain of ideas to KODE. I’m totally over the moon that things have finally aligned and can’t wait to see what comes of our partnership. KODE is all about the people, and we have someone brilliant in Sophia. 2024 is going to be a special year!"
