Lingokids Just Launched Spanish and Portuguese: Why Families Will Love It

Oct. 20, 2026

Lingokids is the No. 1 interactive entertainment platform for young kids, and now it speaks their language. The platform launched new Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese capabilities for its flagship app today. The feature comes in the middle of Celebrate the Bilingual Child Month and aims to support the more than 10.8 million bilingual children under age 9 in the U.S., about one-third of this age group.

Each month, more than 20 million families engage with Lingokids’ high-quality interactive content, which often features recognizable characters from kids’ movies and shows, previously only in English. The vast majority of the platform’s thousands of games are now available in Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese, with potential for additional languages to be added in coming months.

The multi-lingual expansion of the platform was directly driven by feedback from parents. Lingokids surveyed over 1,000 U.S. families who use the platform and found:

  • 75% said they wanted to see additional languages on the platform
  • 68% said additional languages on Lingokids would broaden their kids’ horizons
  • 26% speak Spanish at home

Cristóbal Viedma, Founder and CEO of Lingokids said:

“We heard from multiple bilingual parents that adding these languages shows we care about families like theirs. That sentiment is everything. We’re here to help parents raise amazing kids, and that starts with creating a platform that mirrors family experience. Making the app work in both their languages was the most direct way to do that.”

The language expansion also removes a practical hurdle for younger kids. Because Lingokids is built for kids who often can’t yet read, verbal instructions and voiceovers guide them through the platform. Many bilingual parents who were surveyed described their children “playing by intuition” rather than fully understanding what a game was asking them to do. Providing voiceovers and instructions in a child’s (or parent’s) native language closes that gap, so the experience of play is more natural and free-flowing.

Maud Cariddi, Global VP of Brand at Lingokids said:

“Kids don’t think about which language they’re playing in. They just want to play. The addition of Spanish and Portuguese content on our platform lets kids switch back and forth between languages with fluidity, just like millions of American kids do at the dinner table already.”

The 2026 Kids Interactive Entertainment Report found that more than 70% of parents believe that interactive screentime is better for their children than passive, and that screentime can be enriching and bring the family together. The language expansion lets kids and families customize how they want to interact with the platform, and it adds value for native English-speaking households as well.

Dr. Mona Amin, board-certified pediatrician and member of Lingokids’ Child Development Council said:

“Spanish is everywhere in American culture, and families are noticing. Parents ask me all the time how to introduce a second language without making it feel like homework. We know the early years are an incredible time for language development, and regular exposure to a second language can help kids learn the sounds and patterns of that language more naturally. But here’s the thing: exposure only helps if kids are actually interested. And young kids will let you know pretty quickly when they’re bored. That’s why I love learning through play. Kids aren’t sitting down for a Spanish lesson on Lingokids. They’re playing, singing, listening, and interacting, and the language learning happens along the way.”

The launch will also help expand Lingokids’ footprint internationally. The company’s largest markets after the United States are Mexico and Brazil. Lingokids is headquartered in Spain.
