Powerhouse production company MADRE welcomes its newest director, Roberta. Formerly directing under the name Marilina Perez, Roberta’s passion for art across many mediums is a key influence in her versatile directing style and a hallmark of her lush filmscapes.

Incorporating influences from cinema, architecture, design, music, dance, and more, Roberta’s poetic camera work and kinetic frames add another layer of vitality and spirit to her work. Her hyper-expressive directorial sensibilities bring nuance to her character-based comedic films and lend deep emotions to the beauty of her fashion films. Wildly adept at shooting cars, Roberta’s eye elevates the high-octane commercial genre to artful lifestyle pieces rooted in culture and specificity. Her commitment to experimenting with different approaches and techniques speaks to Roberta’s constant evolution as an artist and ensures that her films continually incorporate diverse narratives.

Born in Argentina and currently based in Santiago, Chile, Roberta’s distinctive flair has been tapped by global and local brands alike to add a dynamic verve to their commercial campaigns. Select spots include films for Acura, Chevrolet, Levi’s, Coke, MACH, Redcompra, Entel, and Shoprite. Her fresh and engaging perspective is primed to reach wider audiences as her creative profile grows with her newfound partnership with MADRE.

Roberta remarked:

“It's important for a production company to have a clear and unique profile, and MADRE embodies that. MADRE aligns with my beliefs and values, emphasizing creativity, attitude, and the courage to be different. They provide a distinct point of view in all their projects within a highly competitive market, which makes all the difference to me.”

Jonathon Ker, Managing Partner and Executive Producer of MADRE added:

“Roberta captures the unique essence of every brand with her direction. They immediately become cultural touchstones. Her visually rich films add beauty and complex feelings to every shot. We’re thrilled to have her on board and can’t wait to see what she makes next.”
