President's Choice Turns Ice Cream Truck Jingles into Free Ice Cream
May. 12, 2026
For many Canadians, Victoria Day signals the unofficial start of summer. And since nothing says summer like ice cream, this long weekend, PC Insiders Report is turning the sweet siren sounds of the neighborhood ice cream truck into free ice cream for all.
With The PC Insiders Report Taste That Tune, Ontarians will have a chance to try one of three nostalgia-inspired flavours—Rainbow Trail, Piña Colada, and Cookie Dough—from the 2026 Scoop Shop lineup. It’s as easy as visiting www.tastethattune.ca and using the mobile web app to scan an ice cream truck jingle (IRL or online) to earn a coupon for a free full-sized tub.
Lindsay Cook, VP of Control Brand, Loyalty and Joe Fresh Marketing said:
“PC Insiders Report has always been at the forefront of food trends with new products Canadians can enjoy on occasions big and small. We loved that we could find an equally innovative way to showcase our 2026 nostalgic, PC Scoop Shop ice cream lineup, and give consumers an opportunity to celebrate the start of summer over ice cream with PC’s Taste That Tune.”
Developed by agency partner Zulu Alpha Kilo, and created as part of the new Taste for Discovery platform launch for PC Insiders Report, Taste That Tune is a digital first program inspired by the relentless innovation behind PC Insiders’ collections. Using Google AI audio recognition technology to register the simple melodies of old school ice cream trucks, the web app converts recognized tunes into digital coupons that PC consumers can redeem for real free treats, available only at Real Canadian Superstore locations across Ontario while supplies last.
Jenny Glover, Chief Creative Officer at Zulu Alpha Kilo said:
“We loved the simplicity of harnessing nostalgic joys, like the sound of an ice cream truck, and turning it into something tangible. What’s better than free ice cream on a summer day?”
Taste That Tune will run from Thursday May 14th to Sunday May 18th at Real Canadian Superstore locations across Ontario.
