Rainbow Lobster Behind Grand Prix for Good-Winning 600K Network

Rainbow Lobster is a creative agency based between Los Angeles and Mexico City that develops ideas at the intersection of culture, technology and human stories. Bringing together creatives, filmmakers, strategists and technologists from different backgrounds, the agency was founded in 2021by Sebastián Arrechedera on a simple belief: creativity can do more than communicate. It can mobilize, connect and create
impact where it matters most.

That belief found one of its most meaningful expressions in 600K Network, a project developed together with Venezuelan creatives and professionals to honor the more than 600,000 Venezuelans who risked everything to preserve evidence and defend the democratic process during the elections of July 28.

The project went on to become one of the defining stories of Cannes Lions 2026, receiving both the Grand Prix for Good and the Titanium Lion, two of the festival's highest recognitions for work capable of transcending advertising and generating tangible impact in the real world. Yet perhaps the most important credit in the entire Cannes entry appeared before any agency, production company or individual name:

The Venezuelan People

Several Venezuelans involved in the development of the case chose to remain anonymous and therefore do not appear in the credits. The reason is the same one that made this project necessary in the first place: the regime that persecuted citizens for scanning a QR code on July 28 remains in power and continues to hold political prisoners in its jails.

The case was developed by Rainbow Lobster together with a group of Venezuelan creatives and professionals who shared a common conviction: what the Venezuelan people achieved deserved to be documented, preserved and presented at the highest level of global communications.

The case was developed by Rainbow Lobster together with a group of Venezuelan creatives and professionals who shared a common conviction: what the Venezuelan people achieved deserved to be documented, preserved and presented at the highest level of global communications.

For Rainbow Lobster, bringing this story to Cannes was never simply about awards. It was about giving international visibility to an extraordinary act of civic courage and ensuring that one of the most important stories of recent Venezuelan history reached one of the world's biggest stages for creativity and communication.

María Corina Machado at Cannes Lions festival

The significance of the moment extended far beyond the awards themselves. Joining virtually during the jury presentation in Cannes was María Corina Machado, whose presence underscored the historical and human dimension behind the project.

Recognized with the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize for her work defending democratic rights and a peaceful transition in Venezuela, Machado's participation transformed the presentation from an industry celebration into something far more meaningful: a reminder that behind every data point, every QR code and every case study were real people fighting for truth, freedom and democracy.

As Sebastian Arrechedera, Founder & CCO of Rainbow Lobster, said during the acceptance speech:

"Venezuela gave us a responsibility to carry onto this stage. 600,000 people risked everything to tell the truth, and we are honored to have represented that courage here. The country we love is facing a humanitarian emergency after a devastating earthquake. If you take one thing from this stage, let it be this: Venezuela needs you now. Please scan the QR code. Donate. The people who protected democracy with their phones are now asking us to support them."

At Cannes Lions, every case study ultimately faces the same question: did it work? For 600K Network, the answer was never meant to be found in a jury room, on a stage or in a trophy cabinet. It belonged to the 600,000 Venezuelans who risked everything to protect the truth. The role of the case was never to make the story bigger than it was — the story was already extraordinary. The responsibility was simply to ensure that what the Venezuelan people had achieved could be understood, remembered and shared with the world from one of the largest stages in global creativity.

The help continues to the people in Venezuela

Through Healing Venezuela, the QR code shared during the acceptance speech redirects global attention toward humanitarian relief efforts supporting communities affected by the devastating earthquake that struck the country. The same phones that helped protect democracy were now helping rebuild lives. Because some stories do not end with an award. Sometimes, recognition is simply the beginning of responsibility.
