Ray Straight is Newest Editor at Cutters Detroit
Nov. 13, 2025
High-end editorial boutique Cutters is very proud to announce the promotion of Ray Straight to Editor. The announcement was made by Cutters Detroit Executive Producer Christina Anderson.
Soon after graduating from the Television Production program at the Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts (now part of Lawrence Technological University), Straight landed in the shipping and library department of Detroit’s General Television Network (GTN). From there, his multifaceted role as Assistant Editor continued to expand as the company’s Creative Editorial operation became RingSide Creative, then Cutters Detroit.
Winning top honors in Camp Kuleshov Detroit in 2013, Straight learned from the best of the best en route to being named Associate Editor. Working on major campaigns for every automotive brand in Detroit, including many with GTB for Ford, his editorial expertise soared to new heights through an extended engagement with SC Johnson, editing high-profile videos for social media. On his journey to becoming a Cutters Detroit editor, Ray also takes great pride in his many editorial contributions to Lafayette American’s extensive campaign work for Mazda.
According to Anderson, Straight’s promotion comes at a very exciting time for Cutters Detroit. Across its business landscape, the company is deepening both long-standing and new relationships, resulting in infectious energy and countless next-level creative collaborations.
Also acknowledging Straight’s personal taste as being equally as sharp as his editing talent, Anderson explained:
“Ray is incredibly thoughtful and passionate about what he does, and he brings a genuine sense of care to every project. His work speaks for itself, and clients keep coming back to collaborate with him again and again. For all of us at Cutters Detroit, we are very excited for more people to see the talent and heart he brings to the table.”
Straight’s character and expertise have earned high praise from many creative leaders throughout the region.
Among them, in the words of Lafayette American’s ECD and Partner Doug Patterson:
“Ray brings so much passion and so much energy to every project. He can tell a story beautifully, but he also really shines when we’re after something that’s just visually dynamic – the way he connects images and plays with the frame is inspired. I’m constantly delighted by what he delivers.”
Patterson added:
“Finally, he’s a complete joy to be in a room with – just one more reason I love spending time with my friends at Cutters. Being promoted to Editor actualizes the feeling I had the very first time I sat down at an editing station, a desire to turn a creative vision into reality."
Straight said:
“While my talent to do so will continue to grow, that very fundamental urge to share my personal perspective has remained constant.”
