RFSU Launches Messaging Service to Increase Condom Use Among Youth
Jul. 03, 2025
Condom use among young people in the Nordics is dropping, and the gap between intention and actual use of protection is growing. To bridge this gap, Nordic condom brand RFSU is now launching Condom Call – a messaging service where voices from influencers, chlamydia, a sex educator, and "your brain" remind people to put on a condom. The campaign was developed together with creative agency Valtech Radon.
According to RFSU's latest survey, condom use among young people in the Nordics dropped from 57 to 54 percent over the past year after increasing over the last five years. To remind young people to use protection this summer, RFSU is now launching the Nordic campaign Condom Call, a messaging service where wingmen become the key to knowing when a reminder is actually needed.
Anette Otterström, Nordic Brand and Communications Manager at RFSU AB said:
"Finding the right time and place to get young people to think about safer sex and condom use isn’t an easy task. We wanted to find a new way where humor carries the message and where the reminder also comes at the right moment, so that the condom actually gets used. By encouraging friends to help each other, we hope the campaign can create a positive chain reaction."
Condom Call is a messaging service where friends can send DMs via SMS, Messenger, TikTok, or Snapchat to remind each other about condoms. The voices for Condom Calls are provided by some of the Nordic region’s biggest influencers, but the service also offers more metaphorical options like "your brain," chlamydia, and the sex educator. The prerecorded messages are available in both video and audio formats.
The campaign is part of RFSU’s overall and long-term communication effort, Just Give A Fck, in which RFSU’s condoms become a symbol of caring for yourself and others.
Isak Landaboure Lengholm, Creative Director at Valtech Radon said:
“With Condom Call, we wanted to take the "Just Give A F*ck" platform to the next level – from just talking about caring to actually helping people to do it. Because sometimes the simplest way to show you care is to give your buddy a friendly nudge in the right direction, exactly when it’s needed the most,”
Condom Call launches in Sweden, Finland, and Norway and is activated on TikTok, Snapchat, and Instagram.
