Rival Company Launches New Tumblr Campaign to Boost Engagement

Feb. 05, 2025

On January 19th TikTok was temporarily banned and taken offline as politicians on Capitol Hill argued the platform’s fate and Tumblr turned to Rival for a fast paced reactive integrated campaign to reintroduce Tumblr to the world and break the convention of the social landscape, according to Rival CEO, Eric Fulwiler.

Eight days later it launched.

Rival Chief Creative Officer Tim Cawley explained:

"While X’s Elon Musk and Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg were becoming more polarizing and provocative (in a mid-January interview, Meta’s Zuckerberg advocated for corporate America to embrace its “masculine energy”). You know who didn’t have any of these issues? Tumblr - who recognized their moment and launched a TV, Social Media and Digital OOH campaign in several of their strongest markets (including DC, the week after the inauguration) featuring messages of community, creativity, and that rarest of qualities in a social media platform these days: longstanding stability."
