Save the Children Presents "Lluvia" (Rain), a Film Made to Demand Concrete Actions to Eradicate Violence
Apr. 28, 2023
In commemoration of the month of the girl and the boy, Save the Children reiterates an urgent call to action to every sector of society, to implement an Emerging Program that Protects the Life of Girls, Boys and Adolescents.
With its new campaign, Save the Children reveals that in 2022, more than 2,600 children were murdered (that is 7 children every day), and makes an urgent call to all sectors of society to assume a collective responsibility to generate free of violence spaces, where girls, boys and adolescents can feel safe and develop their potential. A place where the lives and rights of women are protected and where delinquency and organized crime become rejected instead of idealized.
The 2-minute film "Rain" will be released on the 20th of April in cinemas and on Save the Children's online platforms; it is a shocking story that shows how children and adolescents face a terrible environment of violence on a daily basis, one that attacks them like a storm of bullets, and from which they must take shelter to protect their lives, but unfortunately hundreds of them never make it.
Alexis Ospina, CCO of Grey Mexico said:
"It is a metaphor for reality, which presents the violent weather and crossfire that children face every day in a highly emotional way. I hope it will make those who have a political impact reflect, act, and invite society to sign the petition to eradicate violence and protect vulnerable children."
Maripina, Executive Director (CEO) of Save the Children in Mexico said:
"Violence against girls, boys and teenagers occurs under different circumstances: at home with parenting patterns where children’s feelings and actions are invalidated, at school and also in a general environment; for this reason, videos like these help us raise awareness throughout society about the violence that exists towards children and the importance of committing ourselves as adults to eradicate it."
The film was produced by Oriental films, one of the most prominent production companies in Iberoamérica in recent years. Co-directed by Charly Gutiérrez and “Garra”.
