"Sugar Doggies": The Potro Lima Project That Redefines Adult Dog Adoption

Voz Animal, in collaboration with Potro Lima and Lungo, presents "Sugar Doggies," an initiative designed to encourage people to adopt adult dogs and change the way these pets are perceived. The project aims to find a permanent home for these dogs, who are often overlooked during the adoption process.

The "Sugar Doggies" campaign offers a creative and powerful solution: inspired by the concept of a "Sugar Daddy/Mummy," it suggests that adult dogs can provide their new owners with unique experiences in exchange for companionship and affection.

Anais Anaya, Director of Voz Animal, explained:

"Dogs over 2 years old are rarely adopted, while puppies and small-breed dogs are the preferred choices. Adult dogs, especially seniors aged 6 years or more, are forgotten. With 'Sugar Doggies,' we aim to give these dogs visibility and offer them a real chance to be happy in a family. We can heal their wounds, but only a family can complete their happiness."

 

Thanks to the support of 21 top-tier brands, those who adopt these dogs will receive benefits such as trips, shopping, and dining experiences, making adoption more appealing.

Diego Livachoff, CCO of Potro, commented:

"We needed to come up with an idea that would motivate people to adopt these dogs. We had this observation: if a lonely adult needs money to find companionship... why can't a dog have the same, right? That's how the 'Sugar Doggies' were born. Wealthy dogs in terms of perks, and hopefully soon, wealthy in terms of love."

 

Potro and Voz Animal hope that this project will increase the adoption of adult dogs in Peru and inspire other shelters around the world to adopt similar strategies. "Sugar Doggies" is a testament to how creativity and collaboration can change lives, proving that adult dogs also deserve to be part of a family.
