Tinder Hosts Exclusive Party for Matches Between People Named "Fernanda" and "Oscar"

Feb. 26, 2025

Tinder, the world’s most popular dating app, wants to make sure Brazilians get to see the scene they’ve been hoping for: Fernanda with an Oscar. Created by Tinder in partnership with GUT, the idea taps into Brazilians’ enthusiasm for the most anticipated awards ceremony of the year, which takes place right in the middle of Carnival. To celebrate, Tinder is hosting an exclusive watch party where people named Fernanda and Oscar can enjoy the show together and, who knows, maybe even match together.

The activation kicks off on Monday, February 24th, with a call to action on Tinder’s social media with a video inviting Tinder users named “Fernanda” or “Oscar” to the party, which will take place in an exclusive area at Bar Alto in São Paulo, Brazil. The space will feature a live broadcast of the show, special treats, and a romantic atmosphere for the stars of the night.

Friends can come along, but they won’t have access to the exclusive area reserved for matches between Fernandas and Oscars—or even Fernandas and Fernandas, or Oscars and Oscars.

Jose Diogo Costodio Rodrigues, Marketing Director for Latin America and Canada at Tinder said:

"This year’s biggest film awards will undoubtedly have a special meaning for Brazilians. Inspired by this feeling of celebration, pride, and admiration, we created a special watch party, in true Tinder fashion, to help the much-anticipated match between Fernanda and Oscar. We’re excited for everyone to come out winning this Carnival Sunday—whether with a trophy or perhaps an Oscar to call their own."

GUT’s Creative Directors, Mauricio Dias and Eduardo Nosé, explain that the idea is not to rely on the voted:

“It’s a fun coincidence to create this movie-worthy match right in the middle of Carnival. After so much anticipation and excitement from Brazilians, Tinder is stepping in to make sure that, one way or another, by the end of the night, a Fernanda will go home with an Oscar.”
