"Unforgettable": Vivo Pays Tribute to Nadal in his Farewell from the Courts
Nov. 21, 2024
Tennis player Rafael Nadal has recently announced his retirement following next season’s Davis Cup. Vivo, Nadal’s sponsor for over a decade, is honoring the tennis legend with a major campaign launching today during the tournament where the athlete will make his farewell from the courts. The 38-year-old Spaniard boasts an impressive career among the greatest tennis champions, with 92 titles, 1080 wins, and 22 Grand Slam titles, including 14 at Roland Garros.
Marina Daineze, Vivo's Brand and Communications Director said:
"Nadal, Vivo's ambassador for 10 years, embodies strength, resilience, and unparalleled leadership and success. He's been the face of our campaigns promoting technology, innovation, and more recently, the parallels between his career and sustainability. This campaign marks the end of a significant chapter in our long partnership and is a fitting tribute to a legendary athlete."
Created by GALERIA.ag, the campaign film features an exclusive version of Nat King Cole's "Unforgettable," specially produced for this project. The film shows a clay court being prepared for Nadal's final, unforgettable match.
Phil Daijo, Executive Creative Director of GALERIA.ag explained:
"We aimed to capture the essence of Nadal: unforgettable. But from a unique angle—the clay court, his stage of countless victories. The use of 'Unforgettable' as the soundtrack felt like the court itself was paying homage to its legendary player. It's a tribute to Nadal's connection to the sport, and also to Vivo’s relationship with the athlete."
