Why You Need an Audi Extended Warranty

Why You Need an Audi Extended Warranty

Mar. 06, 2020

Vehicles are not just manufactured to convey people from one point to another, they are made to do that in style and comfort. There are various car brands in the world that provide these options, and one of them is the Audi brand. Being a brand new Audi vehicle owner, you are provided with various options that come with the Audi extended warranty; the reason being that unforeseen situations may erupt during your journeys. In a case where there is a car breakdown after your Audi factory warranty expires, you will not be covered anymore should you take the vehicle to the Audi dealership you bought it from. Hence, you need an extended warranty that will cover your vehicle even after the factory warranty expires. There are factors to consider before taking an extended plan, and these include coverage, costs, and other perks.

The first Audi extended plan we will consider is the 2020 Audi Factory Warranty. This warranty covers new cars and SUVs. With this New Vehicle Limited Warranty, your vehicle is covered within the first four years or a total mileage of 50,000 miles. This limited warranty includes Powertrain components such as the transmission and engine, which differentiates it from a standalone plan. Other bonuses include:

  • A limited Audi corrosion warranty of 12 years.

  • Scheduled maintenance service which will last for 12 months or 10,000 miles.

  • Roadside assistance which will be provided all through the day for the duration.

The basic Audi warranty covers most Audi components for a short term, but the downside is that the plan does not cover wear and tear that comes with vehicle usage. However, this doesn’t seem to protect your vehicle enough when compared to other brands. The likes of Kia and Hyundai provide 10-year or 100,000-mile Powertrain warranties. Also, Audi’s warranty doesn’t compete with those of other luxury automakers such as Acura, Cadillac, and the rest. With these brands come a 6-year or 70,000-mile powertrain warranty and an additional 4-year or 50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper protection.

The second Audi extended warranty to discuss is the Audi Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty. There are Audi dealers that offer this type of warranty to Audi vehicle owners. Its protection is similar to the new warranty; however, there are added stipulations on timing. This platform provides a 5-year warranty which takes effect from the original in-service date, provided that the factory warranty covers your vehicle. One amazing feature of this plan is that there is no restriction of mileage with this coverage. However, it becomes challenging when a warranty is being purchased on an Audi vehicle that has no factory warranty. The Certified Pre-Owned limited warranty, also known as CPO limited warranty, offers coverage for another year without limitation on mileage. Nevertheless, it is transferable.

Why Is an Audi Extended Warranty Needed?

The Audi extended warranty is important to both a pre-owned and new Audi model owner, as one’s investment is totally covered. Also, with the poor reliability ranking that Audi has (28th position out of 32), it is no surprise that a lot of Audi vehicle owners experience various issues. The annual average cost of repairing its cars is higher than other brands to the tune of $987. Hence, there is a need to get an extended warranty for your Audi vehicle.
