World War Seven is excited to announce that Dugan Gundelfinger has signed to its roster of absurdly talented absurdists. Known for his award-winning commercial work and for serenading his casts and crews on set (a habit that will make more sense once you get to paragraph 5), Dugan’s surreal humor and character-driven films have earned him a reputation as a standout comedic director and a standout dude.

Anti-label by nature, multi-hyphenate creative talent Dugan Gundelfinger is first and foremost a corporeal being that probes the cosmos in search of art to bring back to this mundane plane of existence. Absurd comedic filmmaking is just one of the methods he employs… but if you want to refer to him as a director, he’s cool with that too. He brings the intrigue of cult comedy to cinematically ambitious commercial work, grounding every absurd concept that enters his mind and lens with honest characters played with sincerity and heart. The result is films as funny as they are vulnerable.

Last year, Dugan won a Bronze Lion at Cannes for his work directing “Feelin’ Planty Good” for Silk, featuring content creator and musician Carter Vail. His long list of brand work includes work for Farmers Insurance, Bud Light, Domino’s, Planters, Hims and Belvedere, among dozens more.

A testament to his distinct sense of humor, Dugan previously wrote for the Adult Swim series Dream Corp LLC, where his character-driven writing found a devoted audience. This distinct voice was amplified in his recent autobiographical short film “Heroic Dose,” which tells the psychedelic story of…well, exactly what you think.

Dugan got his start directing music videos for artists like Haim, Matt & Kim, Chromeo, and TV on the Radio. That early chapter has now come full circle: working under the name GUNDELFINGER, Dugan has embarked on an ambitious, multimedia opus, releasing four albums in just the past year while directing all of the accompanying videos himself, in a project he describes as the most authentic representation of himself as an artist to date. He credits this multifaceted aspect of his career with forcing him out of rigid habits as a filmmaker, and allowing him more freedom of expression.

Dugan Gundelfinger remarked:

“With World War Seven, it felt like I had found my cosmic home, not just for advertising and film, but a home for who I am now. We have a kindred way of seeing things and creating – a shared frequency. It is indeed a new day, a new dawn, a new moment, not just in this business but in the world; everything is changing. I feel it’s an exciting time to be a creative person, and WW7 shares that same feeling and excitement.”
