Area 23, the #1-ranked health agency in the world and Cannes Lions Health 2017 Agency of the Year, is a full-service agency that has dismantled barriers that stand in the way of true innovation. Our “What if” way of working goes beyond agency sloganism and provides a real framework to do breakthrough creative. Just ask any one of the 400+ entrepreneurial, passionate, curious and bold people who work here.

The agency, led by co-managing directors Tim Hawkey and Renée Mellas, has undergone significant growth in the last seven years, nearly quadrupling in size under their leadership. Our campaigns are consistently recognized with top honors from Cannes Lions, Lions Health, Clio Health, The Global Awards, Manny Awards, MM&M Awards, ANDY Awards, Effie Awards, London International Awards, One Show, Lurzer's Archive, and Communication Arts.

In 2017, Area 23 made history as the first agency to be recognized as Agency of the Year by FIVE of the industry’s top creative awards shows—Cannes Lions Health, Med Ad News, MM&M, The Global Awards, and Clio Health. Notably, Med Ad News also named Area 23 the Most Creative Agency and Most Admired Agency—the first time that any agency, along with the Agency of the Year honor, was able to win the show's top three awards at once. Among the year’s accolades, the agency captured the MM&M Titanium Award for Best in Show. Area 23 became the first US agency to secure the distinguished Cannes Lions Health Agency of the Year title, as well as the first health agency to earn an Innovation Lion and an unprecedented two Glass Lions.

In 2018, Area 23 once again took home the trifecta of top titles at the Med Ad News Manny Awards. This was the agency's third time being honored as Agency of the Year at the Mannys, its fourth time as Most Creative Agency, and its third consecutive Most Admired Agency recognition. At Cannes, the agency captured 9 Lions, the most by any health agency, including a Glass Lion for the second consecutive year.
