McCann Japan
McCann Japan was established in December 1960 under the name of McCann-Erickson Hakuhodo.
McCann Erickson Japan was established in December 1960 under the name of McCann-Erickson Hakuhodo as a first-ever joint venture advertising agency between the U.S.-based McCann-Erickson Worldwide and Hakuhodo, the oldest and second largest advertising agency in Japan. In April 1994, the partnership was dissolved, and McCann Erickson Worldwide acquired 100% equity ownership, relaunching the agency as a fully independent operation under the name of McCann-Erickson.
In the 52 years since first arriving in Japan, we have enjoyed steady growth together with our clients, establishing a firm position as the one and only true international advertising agency among the top 10 agencies in Japan. As the first agency to introduce the concept of “brand equity” to the country, we are able to realize superior creativity, media services, and innovative total communication from the perspective of brand building.
With 100 years of history in advertising, business experience cultivated in 125 countries around the world, and network and talent resources that can take full advantage of both, we have an extensive track record of providing a wide range of advertising and communication services, not only in Japan, but across borders. We are proud to be an international advertising agency in the truest sense of the word.
