Ad of the Day | Volkswagen and BBDO Paris Talk About Innovation by Celebrating Parents

Apr. 02, 2026

At a time when automotive innovation has never been more present, it is increasingly associated with the dehumanization of driving, and its usefulness is sometimes questioned.
51% of Europeans believe their car includes technologies they could do without, and 62% feel that their multiplication makes cars unnecessarily complex. (Cetelem Observatory – December 2024)

In this context, Volkswagen reaffirms a simple belief: technology only has value if it is truly useful.
Useful when it serves what matters most: everyone’s safety.
Useful when it remains intuitive, accessible, and easy to use on a daily basis.

A clear perspective on innovation that the brand chooses to express in its own way, drawing on a universal truth: when it comes to guiding, assisting, or protecting, no one does it better than parents.

Rather than a technological demonstration, the campaign opts for what is obvious. Through simple and familiar analogies, it draws parallels between Volkswagen technologies and the instinctive gestures of parents toward their children. Everyday acts of care, thoughtful and kind, reminding us that the best innovation is often the one that already exists.

A creative approach embodied by a humble and powerful signature:

"We didn’t invent anything."

A tribute to those who, every day, look after others without ever making a show of it.

Titled "The Parents", the campaign is rolled out through a series of 4 films and visuals, across TV, digital, press, and outdoor.
