Ajinomoto Japan's #1 Gyoza Brand is Headed to Major Grocery Stores Across America
Oct. 01, 2025
Beginning October 1, 2025, Ajinomoto Foods North America (AFNA), a part of the Ajinomoto Group and a leader in high-quality frozen food products that bring joy, peace of mind, and connection to everyday moments, is bringing Japan’s number one hane-style gyoza to U.S. consumers nationwide. Shoppers can now "taste the hype" of Ajinomoto’s authentic hane-style gyoza at Walmart and Albertson’s, with additional availability rolling out this fall at Kroger, Wegmans, and other leading retailers.
Ajinomoto® Hane-Style Gyoza is a food lover’s dream, delivering restaurant-quality ingredients and the authentic tastes of Japan right from your freezer. Known for its signature crispy "hane"— the delicate, lacy “wing” that forms when cooking — each dumpling combines a light, golden-crisp bottom with a thin, flexible wrapper and a tender, juicy filling. Bursting with savory, umami-rich satisfaction, these gyoza pan fry to perfection in just 10 minutes — no oil required — delivering a one-of-a-kind crispy, juicy eating experience every time.
Ajinomoto Foods North America is committed to uncompromising quality. As dumplings evolve from a niche snack to a popular American comfort food, the brand continues to focus on making every day eating a happy experience. The company is supported by its parent, the Ajinomoto Group — founded in 1908 and globally recognized for discovering umami, the savory “fifth taste” found in ingredients like mushrooms and tomatoes. For more than a century, Ajinomoto has shared authentic Japanese and
Asian flavors with consumers worldwide through convenient meal solutions.
Hiroshi Kaho, President and CEO of Ajinomoto Foods North America said:
“Our hane-style gyoza is more than just a frozen dumpling — it’s a beloved Japanese culinary experience, known for its signature crispy ‘wing’ and unforgettable flavor. By bringing it to U.S. grocery aisles, we’re inviting consumers to share in the joy that has captivated Japan — from the fun of hearing it sizzle in the pan to that first perfectly crisp bite. It reflects Ajinomoto’s commitment to enhancing everyday meals with high-quality, flavorful foods that nourish well-being and spark delight.”
The dumplings will be available in two varieties, pork and chicken, crafted with premium proteins, fresh vegetables and seasonings like cabbage, garlic, and onions that enhance the flavor without overwhelming it. With an MSRP of $7.99, each 10.7 oz bag contains approximately 14 dumplings, portioned for snacking, sharing, or as part of a meal, offering restaurant-quality gyoza to American kitchens with both convenience and affordability.
To ensure that consumers can taste the hype in the most authentic way possible, the brand is taking Ajinomoto® Hane-Style Gyoza on the road with tastings at select store locations across the country, from Dallas and Denver, to Los Angeles and Chicago, to Boston and more starting October 23rd.
