Renowned color studio Ethos adds Berlin-based colorist Marina Starke to its incredible roster of talent for U.S. representation.

Marina is acclaimed for her meticulous and innovative approach to film grading. A self-taught artist from a young age, she later earned a degree in audiovisual media engineering, where she published influential research titled “The Visual Appearance of Skin in Motion Picture” in Finalcolor and Lowepost. Her work spans a wide range of genres, from celebrated series and feature films to award-winning music videos and commercials, showcasing her versatility and technical expertise. Marina’s ability to enhance storytelling through precise image shaping and texture refinement is a testament to her skill and artistic intuition. Known for her collaborative spirit, she thrives on pushing creative boundaries while maintaining a keen eye for detail. Her passion for the craft consistently results in visually captivating work that resonates with audiences and elevates every project she touches.

Her grades have won Best Color Grading in Music Video for her collaborations with Asgeir’s “Snowblind,” which won an AICP, the Kinsale Sharks-winning “I Saw” by Young Fathers, and “HORRA” by Mayyas, which won at Filmlight Colour Awards. Marina worked with Netflix on the International Emmy-Award winning drama series “The Empress” as well as the feature film “Paradise” and the LGBTQIA+ historical documentary “Eldorado: Everything the Nazis Hate.” She has also color-graded the feature “Bang Bang,” which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2024, and the upcoming gritty Apple+ medical drama “KRANK Berlin.” Her commercial collaborations include spots for Sony, LELO, Coach, Mercedes, Nike, and Bose, among many others.

Marina remarks:

“I’m stoked to be joining the coolest kids on the block! Ethos drew me in with its killer aesthetics and undeniable vibe. Their energy and openness made me feel right at home, and I’m looking forward to being part of the talented roster. With Eliana as our vibrant new MD, I know I’m in good hands and excited for the creative journeys ahead in the US.”

Ethos’ Managing Director and Executive Producer, Eliana Carranza-Pitcher, says:

“Marina is unbelievably talented as a colorist. She elevates every film she works on by contributing her perspective as a storyteller and filmmaker. Marina’s grades add so many immersive sensory layers to each project. We’re thrilled to represent her in the U.S.”
