Ferhat Gurini Wins Gold at Ciclope and Signs with Bacon
Oct. 10, 2025
At last night’s Ciclope Awards in Berlin, Ferhat Gurini won Gold in the New Talent in Commercials category for his film The Lost Generation for charity brand Generation Gaza. The prestigious international craft award is a milestone for the 30-year-old Kurdish-Danish filmmaker who simultaneously signs with Bacon who produced the film with him.
Samuel Cantor, COO and EP at Bacon said:
"From the moment we embarked on our mutual journey with Ferhat last year, he has continued to impress us as a person and a filmmaker. He is an intellectual, a great guy and a clearcut talent with a distinct filmic language. He has a special ability to balance aesthetics, cultural understanding and an analytical approach to creating effective short form films, which The Lost Generation is an example of."
Ferhat Gurini has an academic background, having earned a First Class Honours BSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics, and subsequently spent years working in international think tanks, as a Middle East editor for a magazine and in an NGO. However, in 2023 he made a hard pivot to filmmaking as he felt that his academic work was not making the meaningful difference he had hoped for.
Having some experience in filmmaking from his younger days, Ferhat quickly began to do brand videos for Copenhagen clothing brands and music videos for bigger European rap artists. Now, he is looking forward to opening a new chapter of his career.
Ferhat Gurini says and added:
"I am excited to sign with Bacon, I think from the get-go our working relation always felt like me working with and not for them. So I’m grateful that we’ve taken the next step. I think Bacon’s greatest strength is its strong, reflective work ethos - it has forced me to be more intentional about my production choices, and that’s definitely been for the better. My ambitions as a film maker moving forward are the same. The shift from politics to film making was always driven by wanting to tell the world how I see it. For now, I’m focused on bettering myself at the short format. Credibly telling a story that’s both moving and feels real in a short timeframe, I think really means you have to be sharp and clear about your intentions, which is always a useful skill. Of course, some work will always be more meaningful than other work, and certain projects will require me to tone down my artistic voice more than others, but I’m also in this game for the craft.”
Aside from the Gold award, Bacon also won Bronze in Branded Comedy (Kasper Häggström for the Norwegian Postal Service) as well as Silver in Animation - Character Design, Silver in VFX and Bronze in Animated Campaign (Martin de Thurah for Wealthsimple, VFX and Color by BaconX, Production by Epoch, Local Production by Bacon
