Fivestone Studios Lands Award-Winning Creative-Industry Software Developer Justin Eslinger
Jun. 12, 2023
Taking another giant-sized step forward in their company’s growth as a world-class creative leader, the immersive multimedia specialists at Fivestone Studios are proud to welcome award-winning creative-industry software developer Justin Eslinger to their full-time staff. Fivestone's Founder and Chief Creative Officer Traylor Woodall confirms Justin's immediate appointment to the position of Director of Innovation.
Most recently an AR Engineer for Snap, Justin’s latest work focused on creating experiences and developing hand interaction around the firm's proprietary AR glasses. Prior to that, Justin's talents flourished as Game Engine Supervisor and Lead Software Developer for The Third Floor, where his pioneering developments in Unity and other technologies contributed to a 2021 Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement in Technical Innovation for Mario Kart: Koopa's Challenge at the Super Nintendo World theme parks in Osaka and Hollywood. Also at Third Floor, Justin's work as Lead Software Developer on the proprietary Cyclops AR application continues to make monumental impacts on film and television productions worldwide. Used by the filmmakers behind countless blockbuster films and groundbreaking series, Cyclops won The Third Floor a 2021 Lumiere Award and was a finalist for the 2022 SXSW Innovation Award for VR, AR, and MR.
Driven from a young age to create at the crossroads of art, storytelling, and technology, Justin earned his B.F.A. degree from Watkins College of Art, Design, and Film (now part of Belmont University). Having continued his studies independently by creating original immersive experiences, Justin also garnered film industry awards attention early in his career, as well as being honored by Intel in 2013 with a U.S. $10,000 prize through its Perceptual Computing Challenge.
Justin began:
"With Fivestone, I look forward to crafting new and exciting experiences. I enjoy research and development, and hacking things off the shelf together and creating something new. I’m also looking forward to building a team from the start that is focused on this sort of work. I’m a theme park enthusiast and I love going to live events. I have read stories about the early days of Imagineering and see a lot of parallels here, which excites me a great deal."
Traylor added:
"Right now, there is a huge shift happening with innovations like AI, virtual production, and immersive entertainment. With Justin joining our team, Fivestone is positioned to lead this wave in some exciting new directions."
Traylor continued:
"It was fascinating to learn that Justin has a degree in film production, but has been leading development on extremely technical applications and software for digital experiences. With his unique ability to transcend technical languages and platforms and aim through creative and strategic lenses, we can now offer our clients the strategic advantage of choosing the right technology to address their objectives."
