Jacob Schulsinger Joins Makemake as Creative Producer and Editor
Oct. 14, 2025
MakeMake has added award-winning Editor and Creative Producer Jacob Schulsinger to its creative ecosystem. Schulsinger began his career editing short fiction and documentaries that earned recognition at Cannes, Sundance, the European Film Awards, and IDFA. Since then, he’s collaborated on culturally significant films and series across genres, like Cannes-winning The Square, Triangle of Sadness, and the upcoming Bart Layton feature Crime 101, starring Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, and Halle Berry. In his new dual role, Schulsinger brings a hands-on, artist-first approach to inspire and support MakeMake’s roster of hundreds of creatives.
Schulsinger on stepping into this new role said:
“I think everyone should be confident in their voice and bring their full selves into the process — and life in general. I’m happy if I can help even one person shift their attention away from external motivators and fears toward something more true, honest, and authentic to who they are. MakeMake’s combination of top-tier craftsmanship and leadership deeply aligns with my values. I sensed a genuine ambition to improve the world, not just for people, but for all life. I can’t think of a better North Star.”
Schulsinger’s open leadership style is a natural extension of his commitment to nurturing talent through his many years as an advisor at the Sundance Labs. As an editor, he’s known for his authenticity, precision, and restraint, believing limitations sharpen creativity and ensuring stories carry only the most honest, evocative elements.
A frequent collaborator of acclaimed auteurs, Schulsinger co-edited Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac: Vol 1 & 2, edited The House That Jack Built, and edited the third season of The Kingdom. He’s also worked with Andrea Arnold on Big Little Lies and her documentary Cow, and most recently with Julio Torres on his feature Problemista and the series Fantasmas. Other notable credits include Force Majeure and music videos for David Byrne and St. Vincent. He recently completed editing Nia DaCosta’s Hedda, an adaptation of the Ibsen classic.
Angus Wall, CEO and Founder of MakeMake remarked:
“Jacob brings his singular soul to everything he does, and you can feel that presence in his work. He embodies the spirit of re-enchantment that MakeMake is dedicated to. He is a gifted polymath and we are very grateful to have him join us, particularly in this moment of transformation for the company…and the world.”
