McLaren Racing and Landor Put Human Performance at the Heart of the Team's new Trackside Experiences

The McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team has unveiled two new trackside environments featuring interior and experience design by global brand and design consultancy Landor, part of WPP, designed to celebrate the human drive and profound sense of connection behind McLaren’s F1 success.

The Team Hub forms part of a wider transformation of McLaren's trackside facilities alongside the new Garage experience, which launched at the Barcelona Grand Prix on 13th June. Together, the projects are designed to support the team's growth from both an operational and commercial perspective.

The projects come at a time when Formula 1 has never been more competitive. With more races, and competition than ever before, McLaren challenged Landor to transform its trackside facilities into environments that would support the team's success while embodying its 'Forever Forward' philosophy.

Based on Landor's insight that while Formula 1 is defined by extraordinary engineering and technical innovation, it is ultimately human performance that determines success, the experiences are designed to amplify the collective energy, shared ambition, and emotional gravity that bind the team, its partners, and its fans together.

For the Team Hub, Landor developed the interior experience for a mobile, multi-storey epicentre designed to strengthen collaboration, foster deeper relationships and create an unmistakable feeling of belonging.

Designed to become a standout feature within the paddock, as well as a destination for the team, partners, media and guests, the experience celebrates the collective spirit that powers McLaren's pursuit of success on and off the track.

The experience spans three floors. The ground floor acts as a dynamic gathering space, bringing media, partners and guests closer to the action and energy of the team, through a digital entrance experience and adaptable multi-functional environment.

The first floor is designed for focus and collaboration. A dramatic staircase at the heart of the space represents the ’The Climb of Champions‘, a psychological transition point that invites all who climb to embrace the mindset and determination of Bruce McLaren - as they join on the path to championship status. New meeting rooms and driver spaces sit on this level, optimised in design for personal head space or deep engagements with partners.

The second floor serves as a hospitality and engagement space where guests can celebrate their shared contribution to McLaren's success through stories of innovation, teamwork and progress, creating a feeling of true partnership.

For the Garage experience, Landor set out to enhance a bespoke VIP experience offering unparalleled access to the heart of the team without compromising critical race operations.

While the Formula 1 garage experience promises unrivalled access, many guests experience only fleeting glimpses of the cars, drivers and garage action. Landor's insight was that the real emotional drama lies in the constant orchestration and teamwork taking place behind the scenes throughout a race weekend.

Large-scale digital displays at the entrance showcase the network of people, partners and inputs that contribute to performance, while a redesigned tunnel builds anticipation before guests enter the main space.

At the heart of the experience is a new Race Watch area. Featuring a tiered layout and integrated screens, it provides guests with a prime view of both the race and the operational activity surrounding them, ensuring they feel the changing conditions, strategic challenges, and race-time action in real time.

Rather than simply offering access to the garage, the experience places guests at the centre of the live engineering that defines modern Formula 1, elevating the exhilaration that often goes unseen.

The projects were developed in close collaboration with McLaren Racing and specialist build partners Bischoff + Scheck, Quentor and Live Wire Production to ensure both experiences could be efficiently assembled, transported and deployed throughout the European and long haul race calendar.
