Taco Bell Creates the First Football Boots with "Tacos" that are Actually Tacos

Taco Bell Creates the First Football Boots with "Tacos" that are Actually Tacos

Jun. 17, 2026

2026. This summer belongs to football. Forty days where the world will talk about goals, matches and impossible plays. In that context, Taco Bell found the perfect opportunity to join the conversation from its own territory, owning a truth that was always hiding in plain sight: no tacos,
no football.

In Spanish, football boot studs are commonly called "tacos" because the word also refers to small solid pieces used to provide support, grip or stability. But “taco” also means the iconic Mexican-inspired food. Taco Bell turned this linguistic coincidence into a real product: the first football boots where the tacos on the sole are literally tacos.

Introducing the first football boots with Taco Bell-shaped studs: a limited-edition drop where every stud on the sole has been transformed into the brand’s iconic taco. And because these tacos are more than just decorative, each one includes a code redeemable for free tacos for an entire year.

To launch the boots, Taco Bell teamed up with Pablo Alfaro, one of the most booked players in European LaLiga history, with more than 120 yellow and red cards throughout his career. A profile that perfectly represents the spirit of the campaign: bold, fearless and never afraid of a strong tackle.
Because if anyone knows what it means to play "studs first", it’s him.

Beltrán Romero de Lecea, Brand Manager at Taco Bell Spain explained:

"Everyone remembers a special pair of football boots. At Taco Bell, we wanted to create a pair nobody will ever forget. In a world full of advertising noise, Taco Bell wants to be relevant by doing something genuinely relevant for people. We wanted to give fans a disruptive campaign: a bold activation that puts Taco Bell on the map."

Boots as real as they are impossible

These boots are not just a communication stunt: they are a real product, designed and handcrafted from scratch. The process began together with the studio YYPLUSPLUS, studying the shape and structure of Taco Bell’s taco to create a modular system adapted to football footwear. From there, the
team worked through 3D modelling, resin printing, curing, sanding and painting. Each taco-shaped stud was individually designed and produced, including the engraved redemption code. The final assembly was completed by an artisan shoemaker, turning each boot into a unique piece.

How to get the Taco Bell boots

The brand has created two ways to participate and win this limited-edition drop.

The first one is through Instagram: following @tacobellspain, liking the official post and tagging a friend in the comments. The second one is through the Taco Bell app, where a special banner will allow users to enter the giveaway. Entries will remain open until June 27. Taco Bell’s football boots don’t promise to improve your performance on the pitch. In fact, the brand says it best: they are “terrible for playing football, perfect for enjoying it.”
