These 4 Industries Are Poised to Adopt More VR Solutions in 2022

Mar. 17, 2022

If you’ve been following technology-related news for any amount of time over the past decade, you know that Virtual Reality continously tops the list for most influential tech trends with the highest projected potential for major growth. In fact, the VR market is expected to flourish in the next few years, progressing at an astounding CAGR of 55.34% by 2025. With that being said, it’s no wonder that we have seen various brands, big or small companies, entrepreneurs, and marketers alike all tapping into the technology in order to drive their business plans. As we head into a new year of possibility and VR continues to develop and improve, we can make some predictions for what lies ahead. In this article we point out a few industries that will probably make more investments in VR technology in 2022 and beyond.

Virtual Reality is undoubtedly one of the biggest technological trends transforming our world today

  • Ecommerce

Both VR and AR are already being used in physical retailers around the world, helping customers locate items or ‘try before they buy’ and allowing brands to showcase their products in engaging ways. However, as more and more people move to prefer online shopping, Virtual Reality solutions are a must for the Ecommerce industry. In 2022 we can expect to see even more virtual showrooms pop up so that brands can engage with their customers in more intimate ways. The benefits of this are plentiful, as consumers feel more confident of their purchase, more loyal to the product, and therefore more likely to shop at a virtual store again.

  • Gaming

When VR became more commercial in gaming in the mid-2010s, every gamer raced to attend a VR festival to see what all the rage was about. Nowadays, the technology has infiltrated nearly every major gaming brand without fail. There are a few things we can expect to see with VR and gaming in the future, with one of the most important being a broader offering of VR-assisted gaming titles across genres. For example, online casinos have begun to craft software so that slot games can be played using VR, but because this process is still in its infancy, there are not a huge number of titles available. It would be to the industry’s advantage to prioritize slots with VR in mind, especially because they are typically the biggest revenue-creators for casinos and rank high in the list of favourite online casino games. Not to mention live casino table games like blackjack and roulette are further enhanced with VR. As new and improved headsets are on the cusp of release in 2022, the possibilities are truly endless for VR gaming.

  • Healthcare

VR is reshaping how people experience healthcare, improving both patient procedures and medical practices for doctors. In the coming years, more hospitals and clinics are expected to adopt the technology in their surgeries, medical consultations, treatment plans, and even trainings. VR in healthcare provides professionals with more opportunities to practice preventive medicine so that their patients can have the best care possible, reducing the need for invasive measures taken at the last minute. Additionally, because the patient’s data is stored digitally, there is a lower margin of error associated with record keeping. One thing’s for certain: the future of medicine is poised to be a promising virtual experience for many.

Tesla is one brand in the autonomous vehicle industry that has already implemented VR/AR tech solutions

  • Autonomous Vehicles

By now you’re probably well aware of the fast-growing self-driving industry that is transforming both the driving experience and car manufacturing today. Well, unsurprisingly, VR has also made its way into this sector, being used in top brands like Tesla. Arguably the most popular autonomous vehicle brand of this day and age, Tesla has even beaten out the sales of GM, hitting a record 24,000 electric cars in the third quarter of 2021. Such a huge company like this knows how important VR is, implementing VR test drives to serve customers before they make a buying decision. In the future we will see more car brands do the same, as there is a major benefit in bringing the product closer to the consumer in a realistic, hands-on way.
