WWE and Cricket Wireless Launch 5G Chair Phone & Ad

Apr. 03, 2024

Cricket and the WWE have partnered since 2016 and have created a variety of unique ad content featuring the WWE Superstars and Cricket’s beloved “Cricket Characters” Knowing that every mobile carrier leans heavily into 5G messaging and it’s tough to stand out in a crowded space with larger brands, Cricket’s 10-year creative agency ARGONAUT was tasked with pushing the boundaries and doing something that’s never been done.

Introducing fans to the 5G chair - a product that can do everything a regular phone can do - and more. The chair will be unveiled by WWE talent to fans at a Cricket store in Philadelphia on April 6. Fans are crazy about WWE props and this is one of a kind!!

The ad with WWE Superstars Chad Gable and Otis opens in a conference room that is the scene of uninspired brainstorming. When the Cricket Character Miles asks what else can be powered by 5G, Chad and Otis spot the steel chair in the corner and feel the inspiration. They realize its possibilities and suddenly are cheering “Chair Phone! It’s a chair and a phone!” and the conference room goes wild. At the end, consumers are directed to ChairPhone.com where they can explore all the capabilities of the Chair Phone including its Cricket 5G powered features, "foldable" technology and, yes, even a fog machine.

But Cricket Wireless didn’t stop there. In order to encourage more playful fun with Cricket and WWE this year, Cricket asked themselves: if we can make a chair phone, could we make a phone chair?  And they did! Cricket is creating thousands of mini phone chairs that can be used as a phone stand. Replicas of the original chair phone, they will have a QR code that drives to the landing page (chairphone.com) for people to explore the actual chair phone in more detail.
