Hamlet Sign NY Directing Duo BRTHR

Jan. 17, 2022

International production company HAMLET has signed New York based directing duo BRTHR to their expanding roster of talent, for representation in Europe and China.

A formidable force with a prolific reel and growing body of work, BRTHR is comprised of filmmakers Alex Lee and Kyle Wightman who create multi-layered storytelling and performances with a strong visual punch. Their style is to mash up vibrant pop culture with an infectious, uniquely energetic style, integrating cinematic moments with visual effects, 3D, and incredibly distinctive editing.

BRTHR have directed music videos for the likes of Travis Scott, The Weeknd, Lana Del Rey, Selena Gomez, Lil Pump, Grimes, and Joji amongst others.

Initially deemed “too bold” for the commercial space, they eventually brought their voice to the ad world, helming spots for international brands such as Adidas, Yves Saint Laurent, Converse, Instagram, Facebook and Helmut Lang. One of their most standout pieces of work is a hyper-kinetic, medium-bending launch trailer for EA Sports’ FIFA19 video game, “Champions Rise,” starring football legends such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé and Neymar.

Jason Felstead said:

“BRTHR is a director’s duo who have really created a style for themselves. Their uniqueness has drawn an incredible amount of traction to their work. We at Hamlet are very much looking forward to start producing for them, and making incredible work with them.”

Alex Lee added:

"We’ve had some great, symbiotic discussions with Jason at Hamlet and decided to embark on a Euro trip with Hamlet. Having worked mostly in the States, we are super thrilled to take on anything that comes our way in some new territory with a fresh team.”  This year we plan on going “HAM,” as Jay-Z and Kanye would say. "

While Lee grew up in Japan and Wightman on Long Island, the two met at the School of Visual Arts, and officially began collaborating as BRTHR after their hypnotic mashup-ode to Alex’s hometown, “Tokyo Slo-Mode,” drew acclaim online. The duo saw another wave of mass interest with the release of their epic, six-and-a-half minute bloody feminist revenge fantasy for The Weeknd’s “In The Night” starring Bella Hadid as a beautiful savior in a dark, Japanese noir-style thriller.

Dazed Magazine has named them to their 100 list, ranking among the top visionary talent, while I.D dubbed them “the directors making videos epic again.”
